Historic Stratford is theme for annual photo contest

By Stratford Star on June 10, 2013

The Stratford Community Fund board of directors and its president, Bill O'Brien, announced the theme for the 7th annual amateur photo contest — Historic Stratford.

Entries are accepted now through Aug. 31.

Divisions for the contest include youth, teen and adult. Stratford residency is not required, but photos of historic places, people, or things must be taken in town. Head judge, Roger Salls of Roger Salls Photography, recommends submitting photos that "tell a story and evoke emotion."

Rules and applications are available at the Stratford Library, Sterling House, Colonial Square Art Store and The Milford Bank, both located in Stratford Center, and by email request to Bill at bobrien@sterlinghousecc.org.

2011 Winter in Stratford and 2012 Springtime in Stratford winning entries and honorable mention photos are on display in the Stratford Library through the month of June.

The winners of the 2012 contest were recognized recently at a reception held at Sterling House. First place went to Michelle Pia for her entry "Spring's Rebirth." Other winners are second place, Ron Guerrucci for View of Crocus through a Raindrop," and third place, Ann Stockman for Short Beach Road Tulips.

Honorable Mentions went to Ron Guerrucci for Clock Tower with Daffodils, and in the Teen Division to Jessica Guerrucci for Spring Dogwoods.
